Can I book a trip longer than a week?
Yes. Choose the Personalized package and tell me your dates, your level and what you're after. I'll plan the whole trip so you don't have to.
What's the best time of year to surf near Lisbon?
You can surf all year. Autumn and winter bring bigger, more powerful swells. Spring and summer are usually smaller and gentler. The water stays cool all year, so a proper wetsuit matters in every season. Not sure when to come? Ask me.
I'm traveling with family. Can I be back in time for the day's plans?
That's what the early morning sessions are for. A 6 am pickup usually gets you back by 10 or 11 am, so you can surf and still spend the day with your family.
I'll be landing late at night. Can I surf the next morning?
Yes. Land at midnight, and you can be surfing the wave of your dreams at 6 am. Early starts mean emptier lineups, and you can be back in time for breakfast with your family.
Where do you pick me up?
I pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation.
What if there are no waves?
No wave, no pay.
Lisbon has a long coastline and usually there is always some spot firing. But if I can't find you a wave worth surfing, you don't pay. I'll either issue you a refund or we can re-book for another date.
Where will we surf?
Lisbon sits right between three surf zones: Carcavelos/Estoril/Cascais, Caparica and Ericeira. On the day, I look at swell, wind and tide, then choose the spot that fits your level and what you're after.
How long does a session take?
Usually about 4 hours door to door. That covers the transfer, changing, a 2-hour surf, a snack and coffee, and the ride back. It can vary. Sometimes we drive around and check a few spots to find the right wave, because forecasts aren't always accurate.
Is this a surf lesson? Is it for beginners?
No, this is a surf guided experience, not a lesson. A lesson is an instructor teaching you the basics, usually in a group on a beginner beach. A guide is a local who reads the forecast and takes you to the wave that suits you that day. I don't teach technique, I get you to the right spot and let you enjoy it.
That means this works best if you can already paddle out and catch unbroken waves on your own. If you're just starting out, I'd rather send you to a good local surf school than take you somewhere that won't be fun. Not sure about your level? Message me and we'll figure it out.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
Ideally, yes, at least some of it. Surfboard: Bring your own if you can. You'll surf better on a board you know, and you won't lose time adjusting to a new one. I know flying with a board isn't always possible. If that's you, we can stop at one of my partner surf schools on the way and get you a rental. Wetsuit: I highly recommend bringing your own. It's your second skin: broken in, and it fits you properly. The water in Portugal is cold, and a good wetsuit in your size makes a big difference. It also packs easily in a suitcase. If you really can't, I can help you rent one.
Is it a private experience? Can I come alone?
Yes to both. Groups are a maximum of 3 surfers. If you book as a group of 3, the whole experience is private.
If you're on your own or a pair, there's a small chance you'll share the car with one or two other surfers. It's usually a good way to meet other surfers!

If you can paddle out, find your position in the peak and catch waves on your own — that's where I come in. As your local surf guide, I handle everything: reading the forecast, knowing which break is firing, and getting you there at the right tide.
No crowds. No bad decisions. No wasted mornings at the wrong beach. I know these coastlines inside out and I'll take you to the wave that matches your level and your vibe for that day.
Think of it as having a local friend who happens to know every break in the region — and wakes up early to check the surf for you.

Surf lessons are ideal if you are still learning
Lessons are brilliant if you want someone to teach you how to surf or learn to catch green waves, push you on to waves or simply help you paddle out to the lineup. If that's you, start there — do a few lessons and learn the basics in a safe, structured environment.
A guided safari is a different experience altogether. It's not about coaching — it's about getting you to the right wave at the right time. Real conditions, local knowledge, and someone who knows these coastlines better than anyone.
